Hypertension (HTN) Clincs
Purpose: To perform testing, treatment, monitoring, and evaluation on hypertensive patients and those at risk. Uganda has a high prevalence of hypertension.
According to Guwatudde (2015), only 7.7% of people with hypertension are aware of their condition, indicating a significant burden of undiagnosed and uncontrolled hypertension. This demonstrates that a significant proportion of hypertensive people are at high risk of hypertension-related cardiovascular NCDs.

The IDA Global Alliance conducts these outreach clinics as part of community-based strategies to raise awareness about hypertension (via regular screening), its main risk factors, and the consequences of not controlling it.
Screening (blood pressure, BMI), education and counselling on promoting healthy lifestyle modifications such as weight loss, regular physical activity, moderation of alcohol consumption, smoking cessation, reduced salt intake, and so on are among the services provided. In some cases, we also provide treatment, follow-up, and referral.
